Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye

Dunvegan Castle on Isle of Skye in Scotland.

I knew this would be a difficult task. By glances of some of the original plans it seems everytime a new cheiftan of the clan took over the castle another section was added. The east wing is at an odd angle to catch the early morning light... and by the turn of the century half its fortress walls had been taken down.

This was a commission from Her Ladyship Eva Bellambi, to restore the ruins of her family castle of Isle of Skye.

I first surveyed the land and cleared out the caved in walls so I was working with literally a clean slate of rock and mortar.

Here is a few weeks into the project and sevreal walls built as well minus the entrance.

Juggling Steelhead duties and my humans work during his busiest season the build went slowly, more slowly than I would have liked. But it gave me time to give more attention to detail, to researching the interiors of scottish casltes which was a first for me and of course having all custom textures done or tweaked by Miss Eladrienne Laval.

The end result was something I was truly content with and something Lady Eva liked as well.

So I give you, Dunvegan Castle on Isle of Skye.

Mannheim Water Tower

Built in 1888, designed by Gustav Halmhuber, in the city of Mannheim Germany the Mannheim Wasserturm (Water Tower) was built to expand its municipal water supply and is still being used today. It is crowned with the statue of Amphitrite, queen of the seas.

For SecondLife the Wasserturm was stripped of its pipes and tank inside to make room for its use as an art museum with a spiraling staircase inside. The Tower stands over 70 meters not including the statue and is over 550 prims mainly superprims. The statues themselves were a last minute detail work that I had not intended to build at all, but the Tower seemed incomplete without them.

Attack of the numbers

Why was six afraid of seven?

Because seven eight nine... get it... get it? bah never mind

As per Miss Elle's recommendation I put away the saw and chisel and packed a satchel of food and began to do a walkabout. Being the type of individual I am my focus was to visit builds that had been highly recommended to me.

When I came to Clock Island it struck* me as walking through a Salvador Dali picture. There were numbers discarded everywhere, and in the centre of it all a giant ominous hourglass beckoned you near. Alas my Japanese is not as fluent as it had once been so a few items remained illusive to me.

Above photo: An actual working clock with shadow detail.

Above photo: like a morbid dream you walk up the narrow spiral staircase until you reach the top and look down as random numbers fall below.

It was a garden of time. The trees were numbers, the arch numbers and running around the ground was a 5 with two feet I could not catch. Eerily enough the words of one of my greatest mentors comes to mind. "Time is short, do not waste it."

May I present to you, a concept map of Steelhead Harborside

Created with the Puget Sound peninsula in mind Harborside will soon be settled along the north side of Steelhead. Mostly residential to accommodate the growing number of those who wish to settle in the town of Steelhead.
Lush protected waterways and inlet, lots nestled in between groves of trees and a suspension bridge linking the peninsula between the narrows create a serene atmosphere for those wishing to live in a more rustic rural setting.
Future growth to the east of Harborside and the south of Main City Steelhead will come in the following year or sooner if the demand is high. Conceptual art for such expansion is still in the works but will be unveiled as soon as possible.
Please IM or email me regarding residential interest in Harborside already eleven plots are reserved. To see what is left please visit the town hall in Steelhead.
